It's been rather serious lately. It won't help much but I found a few delicious pictures that might brighten your mood. Of what? Why, cake.

I would like to say that, while I am quite skilled at baking, these aren't my creations. I merely found pictures of them.

The tiny butterflies really set the tone, don't they?

Mm, so... do you know how any of these would have been made? I'm really curious to know how the ghost one works.

I know a couple things so I can make educated guesses. I have a faint idea how that one was made. The eyes, body, and mouth of the ghost are four separate parts of cake--when you slice the cake you get the illusion of the ghost.

They probably made the chocolate cake first, later cutting out the center to put the vanilla ghost inside. The eyes and mouth were probably placed inside the ghost body before that. I'm working off memory but I'm pretty sure it's something like that; it's a trick with layers.

Ohh, I see...! That's so clever, but it's really quite a simple way to get such a cool-looking effect, isn't it? I guess the best part is that you get to eat all the left-over bits of cake that you cut away, too.

Yes, exactly! From the outside it wouldn't look out of the ordinary but when you slice it you get the image. Like those rolls of cookie dough you can buy out of stores; the kind that have images on the cookies. You slice the pieces and you get the image on the cookie.

Right! I think I understand it, now. I do love things like that... they're fun as well as being tasty, and best of all, you can eat what comes out when you're done...!

Mm, yes... Now I'm getting hungry. I'll have to bake some sweets soon. Would you like some?
